Opening a Denizen Global Account* shouldn't be pain so we've done everything we can to make the process as simple as possible while still ensuring your safety & privacy. Below are some helpful tips to make sure everything goes smoothly.
First a few requirements
Applicants need to be at least 18 years old, have proof of legal residency in one of these countries, have a valid passport, and be able to access our app through a supported device. Some customers may meet requirements to apply for a secondary currency account - these approved customers will receive both a US routing/account number and an EU IBAN number.
Download the App
Create and verify your login details
Email address, phone number and a strong password. We'll guide you through the process of verifying your phone number & providing additional details, such as address(s), SSN and/or tax ID number.
Submit Passport verification
We'll ask you to take a photo of your passport & record a short video of you holding your passport. Getting this part right can be tricky so we've also created a short video recording guide to help.
The most common issues we see have to do with lighting and glare on the passport.
Show both the front & back of your passport, holding it in front of you, so both your face & passport are in view. (this helps our software verify that you're the owner of the passport)
We take security seriously so we might ask for additional information† such as proof of your residency status, but rest assured, everything is securely stored.
* Denizen Global Accounts are composed of one or two underlying deposit accounts held at our partner banks in the EU (Euros) & US (USD). Regulations require that you may only have one primary account, and therefore ONE primary currency (as determined by the primary address provided to us during the application process and other eligibility criteria.)
† for this process, a driver's license or National ID is not accepted as valid method of verification.
